Pirate and the Flame
You look at inked drawings and you think "Oh, well of COURSE I can ink like that! How hard can it be?". Then you try it...

Pascal: Finished!
Well, Here we are! It's been exactly a month from the first blog post on him and he's got about 17.5 hours of work into him. Why has it been a month you ask? I haven't counted drying times into that number nor the work on the base. The sculpt was officially finished a week ago, but the damn base needed to be sanded back down to the wood and stained and schellaced twice due to my stupidity and the Florida heat! But here he is in all his finished glory! I'm really happy with how the stained wood base accents off the 50% grey primer of the maquette. Every maquette I've done in the past has had a base painted the same grey as the sculpt, but I think from here on out, a stained wood base will be the norm.

Pascal: Hour 16.5
He's got his first primer coat on. I've given him his final sanding and he's ready for his final spray coat. Once that dries? .... he's DONE!!!
Pascal: Hour 15
He's finally baked! This is after he's been baked, sanded, apoxied and sanded again. His tail spiral bent to the right in the oven, so I had to break it entirely off and re-attach it. I've pulled him off his base to make sanding easier.

Pascal: Hr. 12.5
I only worked on him for an hour and a half this weekend. I have a good excuse though, I can't do anything else on him till I make a tool to add texture on his skin. He looks better with his tail on though.
